About VBS

What is VBS?

VBS (Vacation Bible School) is a fun, faith-based program for kids that includes Bible lessons, music, rec time, crafts, and activities centered around learning about Jesus in an engaging way.

Schedule & Arrival

What are the dates and times?
June 15 – 18 (Monday-Thursday) from 9 am to noon each day.

Where do we go when we arrive?
We suggest parking in the St.Johns/Converse Street parking lot at our Welcome Center. Come to the large check-in tent area outside where volunteers will greet you to check-in and receive direction of drop-off locations.

What is the drop-off process?
Parents/guardians will check children in at the check-in tent and receive a name tag and pick-up tag. A volunteer will direct you to preschool and elementary drop off areas. Preschool will be in the main building in the Woodlands (completed 4K & 5K). Elementary will be in the Hangar (completed 1st-5th grades).

Can I walk my child in?
Yes! Parents must walk their child every day to their safe drop-off location.

What if we arrive late?
No problem! Come to the main check-in area, and a volunteer will help get your child to their group.  After 9:30, bring your Preschooler to the main building in the Woodlands (completed 4K & 5K). Elementary will be in the Hangar (completed 1st-5th grades).

Safety & Check-Out

How does pick-up work?
Only authorized adults with the matching pick-up tag will be allowed to check out a child. Volunteer leaders will guide you to where you check-out your children – Woodlands completed 4K will pick up from the Woodlands classrooms. Completed 5K – 5th grade will be picked up from the Hangar Auditorium Rally each day.

What if someone else is picking up my child?
Please make sure they have the check-out sticker, or a photo of the check-out sticker.

What safety measures are in place?
All volunteers are background-checked, trained, and committed to providing a safe and caring environment.

What if my child has allergies or medical needs?
Please list all allergies and medical information in your registration so we can take proper precautions. We will have trained medics on site.

What to Bring

What should my child bring?
Kids should bring:

  • Comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes
  • Dress up days: Tuesday (Neon), Wacky Wednesday & Team Colors Thursday
  • A big smile and ready-to-have-fun attitude 😊

Should my child bring money?
No, all activities are included

Can my child bring toys or electronics?
We recommend leaving personal items at home to avoid loss or distraction.

Food & Snacks

Will snacks be provided?
Yes! A snack will be provided each day.  We do our best to provide snacks that meet as many dietary needs as possible.

Can my child bring their own snack?
Yes, especially if they have allergies or dietary restrictions.

Will you accommodate food allergies?
We do our best! Please clearly note allergies in your registration.

Activities & Experience

What will my child be doing each day?
Each day includes Bible teaching, rotations such as worship music, crafts, games, and interactive activities based on our theme. Completed 5K – 5th graders will end the day with a large worship rally with a skit, main takeaway and missions giving challenge.

Will my child be in a group?
Yes! Kids are placed in age-appropriate groups with consistent leaders each day.

Can parents stay and watch?
For safety and space, VBS is a drop-off event—but on Thursday families are invited to the final VBS rally in the Hangar to hear worship songs we have learned, a message from our staff team and Pastor Mike Harder.

Special Considerations

My child is nervous—what can I expect?
That’s very normal! Our leaders are experienced in helping kids feel welcome and comfortable. If there are any special needs or specific information we need to know, please contact us.

Can my child be placed with a friend or sibling?
We’ll do our best to accommodate requests—just let us know during registration.

What if my child has special needs?
We want every child to feel included. Please contact us ahead of time so we can best support your child. We provide a separate space for kids who need specific care, but want to provide a Buddy (trained adult) who can integrate into the programming.

Communication & Extras

Will photos be taken?
Yes, we may take photos/videos for church use. You can opt out during registration.

How will I receive updates during the week?
We will send emails with updates and highlights. Please also watch our socials.

Is there a closing program or event?
Yes! Families are invited to a special celebration at the end of the week in the Hangar auditorium at 11:20 AM.

Who can I contact with questions?
You can reach out to Angie Crowley at acrowley@fbs.org or 864-699-4308 and we’ll be happy to help!
