What is BridgeWay Village?

BridgeWay Village is a tiny house community for single women overcoming homelessness where they will receive the needed support, encouragement, and individual care to not just survive, but to thrive. Through case management, discipleship, training, education, and personal responsibility, they can have a confident hope for their future.

Homeless information / Why we Exist

According to the 2022 Point in Time Count the upstate contains 35% of all the state’s individuals reporting a season of homelessness. In 2023 Spartanburg was second to Greenville with the most individuals not housed in the Upstate. The numbers represented in the Point in Time Count vastly underestimate the individuals in Spartanburg county living in homelessness. It is very difficult to gather information on a transient population.

Miracle Hill Rescue Mission, Spartanburg’s only homeless shelter, contains 94 beds in dormitory style housing. 66 of these beds are for men and 28 are for women. During cases of extreme weather, the shelter has mattresses than can go in the basement and the chapel for emergency shelter. Once a man completes his time a t Miracle Hill or graduates from a recovery program, is already working or ready to begin working, they can qualify for a transitional housing opportunity in the Upstate. However, Miracle Hill does not have a transitional housing option for ladies.

There are not nearly as many options for ladies, especially ladies without children seeking housing. We identified the biggest area of need in our city regarding the homeless population and are responding to this need with BridgeWay Village.
