South Africa Partnership

Why Are We Partnering?

East London and the surrounding region are home to multiple Xhosa communities. These communities, which are often referred to as "squatter villiages," are regions of extreme poverty. Also in this region, AIDS has spread to a large number of the Xhosa people. Poverty coupled with AIDS and crime has resulted in a large orphan population in these Xhosa communities. Amalinda Baptist Church in East London has been ministering to these surrounding regions for a number of years, but has recently expanded their focus to providing housing and Christian foster parents for the growing orphan population in the Xhosa communities.

Amalinda Baptist Church has partnered with Warren Baptist Church in Augusta, GA for the past seven years. Warren has sent mission teams once a year to build houses, church facilities, lead revivals, and minister to children. First Baptist Spartanburg joined the effort last year as we sent our own members with Warren to build two orphan homes.

South Africa Orphanages Update!
First Baptist now has a site to build two more orphanages in South Africa. There is an immediate need for $25,000 to secure the property; then another $50,000 to build the houses. If you would like to help meet these crucial needs in South Africa, just contribute through the Global Missions Offering.
