Ministers on Staff

Dr. Don Wilton - Senior Pastor

When the Lord Jesus Christ called Karyn and me into the ministry, we had no idea the joy He had in mind. The joy of serving First Baptist Spartanburg is unsurpassed in our hearts. We are serving in a God-given, defining moment. God has spoken. We have heard. Our time has come to keep the "Main thing the Main thing," sharing Christ with the world.

Rev. Sal Barone - Minister of Pastoral Ministries & Senior Adults

Our desire is God’s desire: to love, encourage, and invite people to walk with Jesus throughout this life and eternity. We believe that every person is important to God. In fact, people are so important to God that He sent His Son to give His life for each of us.

Rev. Brandon Bowers - Minister with College and Young Adults

The journey through college and young adulthood is both exciting and challenging at the same time. It is our mission to come alongside each person on that journey and help them navigate through the plan God has for their life. It is our passion to encounter Christ through genuine worship, intimate LifeGroup studies, and service to others. It is our desire to reach every college student and young adult in the Upstate with the powerful and life-changing message of Jesus Christ!

Rev. Seth Buckley - Minister to Students

Reaching students and their families with the Gospel is our goal. Our ministry is helping teens to grow into a mature faith and to understand their roles as World Changers in the Kingdom of God. We are strengthened to have a church with a passion for making disciples of every family member.

Rev. Sam Davis - Associate Pastor

First Baptist exists to glorify God by making disciples to reach Spartanburg and beyond with the message of Jesus Christ. It is such an incredible joy to have the pleasure of serving the Lord, but to be able to serve Him by serving here at First Baptist Spartanburg is joy beyond description.

Rev. Britt Dillard - Minister of Media

We are committed to leading those who watch or listen to one of our programs, or anyone who visits one of our services to experience the abundant life in Jesus Christ. We are excited to present the timeless truths of the Gospel using all the tools available today. Our focus is to use technology to draw us closer to each other and closer to God.

Rev. Eddie Robertson - Minister of Recreation & Evangelism

Our Recreation Ministry exists to reach lost people of all ages for Christ and to disciple those that know Him. Recreation is a vital means through which the community can make its first contact with our church and, ultimately, with the message of Christ.

Rev. Steve Skinner - Minister of Music

Sharing Jesus is our goal through Children’s Choirs, our Sanctuary Choir, Orchestra, and the prison ministries of Mirror Image and Yesterday’s Teens. As we present the Gospel through worship and song, our purpose remains constant – to lift high the name of Jesus Christ and to proclaim Him as our Lord and Savior.

Rev. Greg Springsteen - Minister to Preschool & Children

The Kid Depot is here to play a critical support role to your family.  Our purpose is to encourage and equip your family to establish Christ as the foundation of your home and assist in Building Disciples One at a Time.  Ultimately, you are the general contractor, your family's primary spiritual provider and we are your sub contractors.  The easiest way to say it is, "You can do it, we can help".

Rev. Steve Wise - Minister of Missions

Our MPACT Ministry is committed to mobilizing our church to reach the nations for Christ. In Spartanburg, we partner with 12 local ministries and reach out to the lost and hurting through our Helping Center. In the US, we have special partnerships in New Orleans, Kentucky, and West Virginia. We have sent out 10 missionary units through our International Mission Board, and many more are being called. God is calling you, too (maybe not through the IMB; probably just to reach our city!). Let us help you serve Him.

Rev. John Young - Minister of Business Affairs

This is a very exciting place to me, and this is a very exciting time for our ministry. As the church is in a growing phase, you can feel the excitement among the church members, the ministers, and all the staff. This is a great place, to live, worship, and minister for the Lord.
